How to brew the perfect cup

Morning TeaNow that you have purchased your loose leaf tea, you will want to brew it the best way you can to get the most of its flavor and health benefits as possible.  We feel that the best way to brew your tea is as loose as possible.  We have found that brewing them in any open vessel and pouring the tea through a strainer works the best (while not as romantic as other tea brewing methods it is effective.  However you choose to brew your tea the following instructions  allow for the best cup possible.

White Tea - With these delicate teas the water should never be boiling.  Heat the water until it just begins to steam or about 180 degrees.  Add one heaping teaspoon per cup of tea and pour water over the leaves and allow to steep for 4 - 6 minutes.  Do not steep much longer than 6 minutes, your tea will likely end up bitter if you do.

Green Tea - Again, the water should never be boiling.  Heat it just until it begins to steam or reaches about 180 degrees.  Pour water over one teaspoon of tea per cup and allow to steep for 1 - 3 minutes.  Do not steep any longer than 3 minutes your tea will be bitter tasting if you do.

Oolong Tea - Again, the water should not be boiling.    Heat it until it begins to steam or hits 180 degrees.  Pour water over one teaspoon of tea per cup and allow to steep 1 - 3 minutes.  Do not steep any longer than 3 minutes, you may end up with a bitter cup of tea.

Pu'erh - Bring water to a boil and pour over 1/4 of a bird nest, allow to steep for as long as you like.  Pu'erh's benefits come from allowing it to steep.

Tea PlantationBlack Tea - Bring water to a boil and pour over one teaspoon of tea, if you like your tea stronger you can add more tea.  Allow it to steep for 4 - 6 minutes.  If you steep it for too long it can become bitter.

Herbals & Rooibos - Bring water to a full boil and add to a heaping teaspoon of tea.  Allow to steep for 4 - 6 minutes, you can't hurt them if you steep them longer.
